  • Body Systems Support:

    • Digestive: Used to help balance appetite and soothe common digestive discomfort (such as IBS). It supports the liver by encouraging the healthy secretion of bile juice and may assist the body in managing cholesterol and gallbladder function.

    • Musculoskeletal: May be used in topical applications to help the body disperse lactic acid that accumulates in muscles after intense physical activity, promoting comfort and recovery.

    • Nervous System: Generally utilized to strengthen and support the nervous system. It may offer soothing relief for common headaches and support cognitive health. It is also used to support nerve function.

    • Respiratory: Helps to dissolve phlegm and offers soothing support during irritations. It can be gargled (and then spit out) to promote a healthy throat environment.

Important Safety Note: Phototoxicity ⚠️

Grapefruit, like other citrus oils, is phototoxic, meaning it increases your skin’s sensitivity to light (due to substances called furanocoumarins).

  • Direct Skin Use: When applying grapefruit essential oil (mixed with a carrier oil) to the skin, do not expose the area to the sun for a minimum of two to three hours after application. A stricter recommendation is to only use it in the evening to allow at least nine hours before sun exposure.
